The Art of Conscious Living
Sustainable Fashion Brand Interview: REISTOR - Building a Conscious Brand with Purpose
At Wear You Organics, we believe sustainable fashion begins with people — their stories, values, and intentions. In this interview, we explore the journey behind a conscious fashion brand - Reistor.
From textile heritage to ethical production, and what it truly means to build a sustainable business today. For some founders, fashion is a discovery. For others, it is a legacy.
Coming from a multi-generational textile family, Reistor's founder, Mehma Singh, grew up immersed in fabrics, craftsmanship, and supply chains. This early exposure shaped a deep understanding of material quality and production ethics—foundations that would later define their sustainable fashion brand.“I come from a legacy of a textile family business that spans decades,” she reflects. Fashion has always been part of my life — it’s in my blood.”, says Mehma Singh.
Alongside her brother — a long-standing figure in the industry — she absorbed not only technical knowledge, but a way of thinking: one rooted in patience, precision, and respect for process.
The decision to co-found a conscious clothing label emerged naturally: a fusion of heritage, creativity, and purpose.
Yet her path was not linear. Years spent in marketing across global companies brought a different layer — one of storytelling, experience, and emotional connection.
What emerged was not simply a brand, but a synthesis: Heritage and modernity, craft and communication, legacy and future.
Launching in 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, was both a challenge and a catalyst. Supply chains fractured. Consumer behaviour shifted. The industry paused — and questioned itself. “There were moments where we genuinely wondered if the timing made sense,” she shares. And yet, within that uncertainty, clarity emerged.
Sustainability was no longer a narrative — it became a necessity. The brand was built not in ease, but in intention. Every decision mattered. Every step required adaptability. What could have been a setback became a foundation.
Behind the language of sustainability lies a more nuanced reality. Greenwashing, misinformation, and cost barriers continue to shape the industry. Ethical materials — such as organic cotton or hemp — come at a higher price, while their value remains invisible to many consumers. “There’s often a disconnect,” Mehma explains, Reistor's visionary. “When two garments look the same, but one carries the true cost of ethics and sustainability, it’s not always understood.” This is not about being flawless — but about being honest.
What sets this brand apart is not only what it creates — but how and why. Every decision considers impact: materials, people, process, community. One moment, in particular, remains significant — a collaboration with a women-led organisation supporting garment workers. “To see someone gain independence and pride through their work… it changes how you view what you’re building.” - Mehma. Clothing, in this sense, becomes more than product.
It becomes connection. Dignity. Possibility.
If there is one movement Reistor would create, it is this:
A world where conscious living feels accessible, not overwhelming.
Where individuals feel empowered — not pressured — to act.
Because change, when shared, becomes exponential.
At Wear You Organics, these are the voices we choose to amplify —
those who build with intention,
who question the system,
who move slowly but meaningfully.
Because behind every garment is a story.
And behind every story, a deeper way of living.
Do not compromise. Wear You.
